HOTEL VOID

Hotel Void is a mixed-use boutique hotel located in Chelsea, New York City, adjacent to the High Line and 14th Street Park. The project is organized around a large carved void that transforms a solid building mass into a light-filled vertical landscape. Rather than treating the void as an atrium, it becomes the primary architectural element that shapes the building's form, brings daylight deep into the interior, and establishes visual connections across the project. The void creates a continuous spatial experience that connects the city, the building, and its occupants.

The lower levels are designed as public destinations, with retail at street level, a Michelin restaurant and café on the second floor, and a library on the third floor, each extending onto terraces overlooking the void. A direct connection to the High Line integrates the building into New York City's pedestrian network and encourages public engagement. Above, the hotel rooms and guest amenities occupy the private upper levels, where corridors and terraces frame views into the carved space. The material palette reinforces this relationship through limestone panels that define the building's solid exterior, expansive curtain walls that maximize daylight and views, and a metal-clad roof that unifies the building's sculpted form.
